éS Footwear, a technology-driven shoe company

A key element of éS’s success has been its groundbreaking shoe designs and technological advancements. The éS Koston 1, introduced in 1997, was one of the first skate shoes to incorporate an air cushioning system in the heel, taking inspiration from Nike’s Air Max series. The éS Muska, released the same year, became an instant classic, featuring PU inserts, lace loops, and a hidden stash pocket.

Another standout model was the éS Accel, launched in 1995. It was one of the brand’s most iconic designs, known for its durability, timeless aesthetic and superior board feel compared to other shoes from that time. More recently, designs such as the éS Evant combine classic éS heritage with contemporary skate shoe technology, keeping the brand at the forefront of innovation.

éS has extended its influence beyond footwear with a range of clothing and accessories that reflect the brand’s deep skateboarding roots. From high-quality hoodies, jackets, and tees to beanies, hats, and backpacks, éS blends classic skate style with functional designs built for skaters. The brand's apparel often features clean aesthetics, subtle branding, and durable materials for skate sessions and everyday wear. With a focus on technical performance and timeless style, éS clothing and accessories continue to complement the brand’s legendary footwear.

A legendary skateboard team

Over the years, the éS skateboard team has featured some of the most legendary skateboarders, each leaving their mark through groundbreaking video parts and competition success. Eric Koston was a standout rider in the late ’90s and early 2000s, delivering an unforgettable part in Menikmati (2000), where his technical mastery and stylish approach set new standards in skateboarding.

Tom Penny, known for his effortless style, also had a defining part in Menikmati, showcasing his smooth, nonchalant execution of big tricks. During his time with éS, Chad Muska became one of the biggest names in skateboarding, dominating street skating while shaping the culture with his personality and influence.

Bob Burnquist, an innovator in vert skating, pushed the boundaries of what was possible with his switch stance skills and creative lines.

Ronnie Creager, a tech wizard, consistently delivered jaw-dropping video parts that highlighted his precise manual and ledge game.

More recently, TJ Rogers has represented éS with two incredible video parts, bringing a powerful yet highly technical approach to the streets. Through these riders and their contributions, the éS team has remained one of the most respected and influential crews in skateboarding history.

Menikmati and skate videos

The Menikmati (2000) and Especial (2007) skate videos hold significant places in skateboarding culture, each representing different eras of progression and style. Menikmati is considered one of the greatest skateboarding videos of all time, setting a new standard for high-quality cinematography and storytelling in skateboarding.

With an all-star line-up including Eric Koston, Tom Penny, and Ronnie Creager, the video captured an era where technical progression and style were at their peak, influencing countless skaters worldwide. Especial, on the other hand, represents éS’s modern resurgence, showcasing the new generation of team riders while maintaining the brand’s legacy of innovation. Both videos have contributed to skateboarding’s cultural evolution—Menikmati by inspiring a generation with its polished yet raw depiction of skateboarding, and Especial by keeping the spirit of éS alive in an era just beginning to be dominated by fast-paced online content.

In 2012, éS took a hiatus, sparking speculation about its future. However, in 2014, the brand made a strong comeback, reaffirming its commitment to skateboarding and solidifying its place in the industry. In 2025, éS introduced the TJ Rogers pro model, reflecting its continued dedication to supporting professional skateboarders and advancing skate-shoe technology.

Through its innovative designs, collaborations with top skateboarders, and a commitment to skate culture, éS Skateboarding continues to influence skateboarding and footwear technology. The brand remains vital to skateboarding history, evolving while staying true to its roots.
